Introductory Beekeeping

This course is a great introduction to the world of beekeeping.  It contains all the information required to get started in successfully managing your own bees.  Class sizes are restricted with lots of time for Q&A and hands-on participation. We will provide detailed course notes and we welcome follow-up email questions. * light coloured, long sleeves suggested *  We have veils and gloves.

Course Time: 1pm - 4:30pm

    • Smoker, tools, protective gear
    • Types of hives; parts of the hive; types of foundation
  • Setup of a hive and installation of a nucleus colony

  • Issues Facing Bees; treatments
  • Our mistakes in beekeeping
  • Activity throughout the season
  • Hands-on in the hive - inspection & tour
